Part Victorian and part Regency, the seaside town of Dawlish has a special charm and character. Situated on Brunel’s stunning South Devon Coast Railway, one of the most scenic railway journeys in the world, Dawlish has been a popular seaside resort since the 18th century.
At its heart you'll find an attractive park with colourful flower beds, tall palms and other exotic plants. All this provides a perfect setting for the brook that cascades over a series of waterfalls to the sea - and is the home of the famous Black Swans and many species of waterfowl.
And at night hundreds of coloured lights transform Dawlish - as a magical place for a summer evening stroll.
In August, Dawlish really comes to life with its not to be missed carnival week. It includes amongst other events a lively town procession and the Red Arrows. A packed programme of free entertainment and events are arranged throughout the summer.
Dawlish is set at the edge of beautiful rolling countryside as it meets the impressive cliffs of the sandstone coastline. There are three beaches; Boat Cove, Coryton Cove and the town beach that stretches all the way to the award-winning beach of Dawlish Warren.
